(resident designer) trained with Czech scenographer Jaroslav Malina and sculptor Malcolm Cochran.  His recent designs include scenery for Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses (University of Oregon), scenery for the devised work Everyone Who Looks Like You (Hand2Mouth), scenery and lighting for Hum (Available Light), scenery and lighting for Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice (Lord Leebrick), lighting for Giggle, Giggle, Quack! (Oregon Children's Theatre), and scenery for Aida (Ohio State University). Steinmetz is published in Puppetry International, and is the winner of the USITT Rose Brand Award for Scenic Design (2003).
